The aims and objects of the Board shall be.

To protect, promote and safeguard Sherpa language, tradition and culture and preserve the true identity of the Sherpas. To Obtain funds from different Departments of the Govt. of India and Govt. of west Bengal for fulfilment of aforesaid objectives

The Government in the Department of Backward Classes Welfare has decided to implement a Housing Scheme in the District of Darjeeling for the indigent, homeless, from the Economically weaker sections of peoples (EWS) belonging to the Sherpa community .

Sherpa (Tibetan: "eastern people", from shar "east" and pa "people") are an ethnic group from the most mountainous region of the Himalayas. Most Sherpa people live in eastern Himalayan regions of India & nepal. Tengboche is the oldest Sherpa village in Nepal.
